Direct School Admission (DSA)

Direct School Admission – Sec (DSA-Sec) for 2024

DSA-Sec seeks to broaden the recognition of talents and achievements beyond academic grades. P6 students can gain direct entry to certain secondary schools based on their talent in sports, CCAs and specific academic areas, etc, before taking the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, while keeping in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes that are available to develop their potential and talents.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school and participate in the activities related to the talent area they are selected for from Year 1 – 4.

Sports & Games
Badminton	1. Physical Proficiency Aptitude Test Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - No. of sit-ups in 1 minute - No. of inclined pull-ups in 30 seconds - Timing based on 4 x 10m shuttle run - Footwork agility test 2. Badminton Skills Assessment - Execution of shots - Game awareness
Football	1. Physical Proficiency Aptitude Test Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - No. of sit-ups in 1 minute - Timing based on 4 x 10m shuttle run - Footwork agility test. 2. Football Skills Assessment - Execution of shots - Passing - Ball Control - Juggling - Game awareness - Teamwork
Canoeing	1. Physical Proficiency Aptitude Test Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - No. of sit-ups in 1 minute - No. of push-ups in 1 minute - Timing based on 4 x 10m shuttle run. 2. Kayaking Aptitude Test
Volleyball	1. Physical Proficiency Aptitude Test Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - Timing based on 4 x 10m shuttle run - Ability to serve - Agility 2. Volleyball Skills Assessment Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: -Ball handling skills -Game awareness -Teamwork
Wushu	Applicants will need to perform one of the following routines: - Quan-Shu -Short weapon -Long weapon Applicants need only prepare for just one of the aforementioned routines. If a weapon-based routine is demonstrated, applicants will be required to bring their own weapon. Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: -Flexibility -Strength -Execution
Performing Arts
Choir	1. Solo Performance Assessment Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - To prepare and sing one song of your choice (at least 2 minutes). Applicants are required to prepare their own audio music, music scores and any other equipment that might be required to demonstrate their skills.
English Drama	1. Solo Performance Assessment Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - To prepare and enact 1-minute monologue performance based on a script of your choice. 2. Drama Skills Assessment Applicants will be assessed on the following aspects: - Improvisation skills - Vocal projection - Spatial awareness.
Chinese Orchestra	1. Solo Performance Assessment Applicants are to prepare and perform one song of your choice (2 to 4 minutes long). Applicants are required to use their own musical instruments, music scores and any other equipment that might be required to demonstrate their skills.
Concert Band	1. Music Scales Test Applicants are required to play Concert Bb, Eb and/or F scale by memory. 2. Solo Performance Assessment Applicants are to perform two contrasting pieces of your choice (minimally 24 bars) Applicants are required to find their own musical instruments, music scores and any other equipment needed to demonstrate their skills.
Malay Dance	Applicants will be assessed based on: 1. 1-minute individual Malay dance performance of your choice. Please ensure that you have the music accompaniment for your dance performance 2. Dance Skills Assessment Applicants will be assessed on these aspects: - Dance skills - Ability to pick up dance routine - Elegance
Modern Dance	Applicants will be assessed based on: 1. 1-minute individual dance performance of your choice. Please ensure that you have the music accompaniment for your dance performance 2. Dance Skills Assessment Applicants will be assessed on these aspects: - Dance skills - Agility - Ability to pick up dance routine

Applied Learning Programme
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)	Applicants will be assessed based on: - Interest, knowledge and skills in coding; and - Attitude and problem-solving skills through a short performance task.
Learning for Life Programme
Student Leadership	Applicants will be considered based on the following qualities: - confidence and maturity of thought - clarity of expression - willingness to show initiative - interest in community service - passion to lead and inspire others Prior experience as a student leader (e.g., school prefect, CCA leader, peer support leader, class monitor, etc.) would be an advantage.

All applicants can apply for DSA-SEC through the centralized DSA-Sec Portal.

1. For applicants studying in MOE mainstream primary schools: Parent may log in directly to DSA-Sec Portal. Only one parent’s Singpass is required. Parents/guardians who are unable to apply online can approach their child’s primary school for assistance.

2. For applicants NOT studying in MOE mainstream primary schools: They need to apply for a Registration Number (RGxxxxxxx) to access the DSA-Sec Portal. For more details, please refer to MOE website at: https://go.gov.sg/nmsdsa-sec-application.

3. Students can indicate up to three choices (maximum of two choices for the same school under two different talent areas).

4. Applicants studying in mainstream primary schools will have their primary school information shared directly with DSA-Sec schools that they apply to. It is optional to indicate non-school-based activities and achievements.

24 Jun – 9 Sep 2024	In-person interview for shortlisted applicants. Shortlisted applicants will be notified via phone and/or email on the date and time for the interview and trial (if applicable).
By 9 Sep 2024 (or earlier)	All applicants will be informed of the results of their application via mail (Confirmed Offer/ Wait List / Unsuccessful)
By 25 Oct 2024	Submission of School Preference Form through DSA-Sec Portal by 3pm
Late Nov 2024	Allocation Results Release
